Impex company Limited, a private family owned company, was incorporated on the 27th of June 1949 by the late Mr. Yusufali Somji. The objective of the company then was to provide insurance broker services to the general public.
The company was formed in 1939 and its humble beginning was through the efforts of its Greek founder, Mr Yamalis. In the coming years it was taken over and reformed by an ambitious entrepreneur by the name of Yusufali Somji, who by 1968 had acquired all the shares of the company, making him the major shareholder and sole agent.
The company slowly began to expand under the very able management of Mr Yusufali Somji, and building itself a solid base and an identity in terms of its efficiency, professional, personalised and guaranteed services to its customers, all of which culminated to represent value for money.
The company was managed to insure all calibre of clients, from diplomatic missions to private and large organisations.
In 1971 Mr Yusufali’s son, Mr Mohammed Somji joined the company, bringing with his new ideas and strengths, thus a continuum of the expansion process.
On the 3rd of July 1977 Mr Yusufali Somji passed away, leaving charge of the company with Mr Mohammed Somji.
The ensuing years saw impressive progression and expansion of the company, both in terms of improved and additional services, which are enhanced on an ongoing basis to cater for changing needs, for its ever-increasing customer base.
